Manual Emails in ToDos

We recommend using Auto-Emails for beginners but sometimes spending a little extra time to personalize a message can drive response rates up

Why Manual Emails rock!

A manual email is a great option if you want to write a personal/unique introduction sentence(s) for each contact while still leveraging, for example, a templated value proposition statement, call to action, closing, etc.  A 'Manual Email' can be added to a campaign but it will not automatically send.  The 'next step(s') in your campaign that follow a 'Manual Email' will not deliver until you edit and send your 'Manual Email' from the ToDos section

There are certain times where a manual email makes more sense than an automated email.  Some folks start a campaign with a hyper-customized manual email while others use a 'Manual Email' in the middle of the campaign to convey to the prospect that you've done your homework and have a specific reason for contacting them.

Why managing Manual Emails in ToDos is so damn important!

  1. If a Manual Email is the first step in your campaign, your campaign will not ever deliver additional steps until you go to the ToDos section and follow the instruction in the next section. *

  2. If a Manual Email is in the middle of your campaign, your campaign will not ever deliver additional steps until you go to the ToDos section and follow the instruction in the next section.*   *(Caveat to this is if you edit the 'Advanced Options' requiring the step to be completed and select ''No, create a to-do for me but continue the sequence'.)

How to Send a Manual Email:

When a manual email is added to a campaign, you are required to save a subject line, select a signature (or opt for no sig), and write a partial email.

Go to the 'Manual Email' section of your ToDos and click on one of the cells to edit and send.  Add your custom text to the message then choose from one of the following options.  ps - you can click the three dots to add a CC or BCC.

  1. Skip and Resume: if you don't want to send a 'Manual Email' and you don't want it holding up the rest of your campaign, take the lazy way out and skip it.

  2. Snooze: If you don't have the time or the research completed required to effectively customize your email, feel free to snooze the reminder to complete.

  3. Send and Resume: This is the most common option you will select to send your email.  The two other options (Pause and Convert) are related to a use specific use case and we'll share a few examples below.

  4. Send and Pause: Use this option if the next step in your campaign is dependent on the contact taking a specific action like registering for a webinar or downloading a white paper.  You can resume the sequence when they complete the action.

  5. Convert Contact:  Campaign sequences are stopped for converted contacts.  One example of sending and converting is if you move as contact who replied positively to a campaign into a 'meeting scheduling' campaign sequence.  You can send and mark converted (as a warm lead for example or scheduling meeting).
